Deutschlander, Harriet Catherine (October 5, 1911 - July 22, 2005)

Harriet C. Deutschlander, age 93, Thorp passed away Friday, July 22, 2005 at Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 25, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Harriet Catherine Sadowski was born on October 5, 1911 in rural Thorp, WI to Frank and Catherine (Romianak) Sadowski and was educated at area schools. She was united in marriage to Edward Deutschlander on September 1, 1931 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They farmed in the Thorp area until the mid 1950’s when they moved to the City of Thorp. Harriet then worked at the Farmers Store in Thorp until retirement. Edward later passed away in 1991. Harriet continued to reside at her home on North Boardman St. until entering Oakbrook Health and Rehab in February 2002.

In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, embroidering and gardening. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by one son, Edward (Georgia) Deutschlander of Minnetonka, MN; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, her daughter Dorothy Greene in 1989, two brothers: Leon and Frank and two sisters: Pauline and Stella.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
