Ernest Haack

Ernest Haack, 89, Algoma, died Oct. 28, 2006, at the Algoma Long Care Unit.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Algoma. He was buried with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers were Dennis Kramer, Abbotsford, Phillip Schmidke, Russell Nell, Doug Nell, Lyle Nell and Steve Nell, all of Algoma.

He was born Oct 4, 1917, at Arpin to the late Ferd. A. Haack.

He graduated from Abbotsford, Wis. High School in 1936. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1943. He spent time in the European Theatre in Italy, France and Germany.

Ernest married Mabel (Pagel) on July 12, 1947.

After coming home to Abbotsford, he owned and operated the Abby Café for several years. He then moved to Algoma where he became a city mail carrier.

He was very active in the community, his church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Ernest is survived by his sister, Vivian (Haack) Kramer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Irene Mueller; and his wife.
