Deforth, Myron (June 2, 1918 - January 13, 2005)

Myron DeForth, age 86, of Milan, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Memorial Health Center, Medford. Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2005, at Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church. Burial was at Sylvan Cemetery, Town of Reseburg, Clark County.

Reverend Bruce Janke officiated. Pallbearers were Mark Bunkleman, Gordon Jones, Doug Blunt, Mark Raatz, Wade Knight, and Greg Blume.

Visitation was held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2005, at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Myron was born June 2, 1918 in Thorp. He graduated from Thorp High School. Myron married Irene Zwicky who preceded him in death on April 6, 1994.

Myron worked as a cheese maker in Somerset and in 1954 moved to Edgar where he worked for the Edgar Cheese Factory. In 1958 he and his family moved to Bismarck, ND, where he worked as a cheese maker until returning to Owen in 1962. He moved to his hobby farm near Milan in 1967 where he currently resided. He liked to help with transportation of the local Amish and Mennonite communities. He also enjoyed making rock crafts with his friend and partner, Vidella Durkee.

Myron is survived by one son: Gary DeForth of Dorchester; one brother, Roman DeForth of Norman, OK; special friends: Wade and Joan Knight and their children, Roger, Aaron, and Christina and Cliff Jensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene, and an infant sister, Irene.
