Joseph Francis Harycki was born on March 25, 1927, in Schiller Park, IL, the son of Basil and Martha (Straszkowski) Harycki. The family moved to a farm north of Thorp, where Joe was raised and received his education. He was united in marriage to Regina Czarnecki on November 3, 1956 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, in Thorp. Joe bought his family farm, which he operated until retiring in 1977. His wife died on November 23, 1960. During retirement, Joe enjoyed helping his neighbors on their farms. He also had many interests, but especially loved gardening, flowers, hunting deer and squirrels, making wood, picking mushrooms, making sausage and loved spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.

He will be sadly missed by two daughters: Katherine (Dale) Benzschawel of Thorp and Theresa (Larry) Hook of Fox Lake, IL; two grandsons: Ryan and Craig Benzschawel; and four sisters: Marie Kautenberg of Schaumburg, IL; Ann Briski of Thorp; Dorothy Briski of Greenwood; and Florence (Arthur) Olsak of Elk Grove Village, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Regina and one daughter, Jane Ann.
