Gwin, Kate (? - 2 OCT 1937)

Miss Kate Gwin who died in Neillsville Saturday evening, Oct. 2, 1937 was born in Loyal. Here she spent her childhood, attended school, and grew to womanhood.

For some years before and after her graduation from Loyal High School, she taught in the schools of the village and vicinity. She was a graduate of Stevens Point Teachers College and of a business college in Minneapolis.

She taught for many years in Marshfield and after she resigned from the teaching profession, because of ill health, she made her home there until about three months ago when she went to Neillsville to live.

She was a member of the Marshfield Methodist Church.

Miss Gwin was a conscientious teacher never sparing herself that her work might be well done and always showing an interest in each pupil. She was of a happy, kindly disposition and made many friends wherever she lived. Although she had not been well for about three years, death came suddenly at the close of a day when she seemed as well as usual.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Longenecker of Neillsville at the Schiller Funeral home after which burial was made beside her parents in the Loyal cemetery. For the benefit of friends who could not attend the Neillsville services short services were held at the cemetery here.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Esther Gard of Superior and a nephew Gwin Whitney of New York City. Her death will also be mourned by other relatives and many friends.
