West, Irene (Marriage - 30 Sept. 1939)

On Saturday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m., Miss Irene West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William B. West, Neillsville, became the bride of Roy D. Charland, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Charland of Mondovi. The ceremony took place at Sunset Point with the Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.

The bride was lovely in a gown of white slipper satin patterned on princess lines. Venetain pint lace formed the insertion. The sleeves were puffed at the shoulders and ended in points over the hands. She wore a shoulder corsage of talisman roses and lilies and her illusion veil was of finger-tip length.

Mrs. Robert Goode of Eau Claire was the bride’s attendant, the groom being attended by Mr. Goode.

A wedding dinner was served at noon at the home of the bride’s parents.

For going away the bride selected an ensemble in wine shades with winter green accessories.

Upon their return they will make their home at Eau Claire where the groom is employed by the Northern States Power Company.

The bride was graduated from Neillsville High School with the class of 1937, and worked for some time in the soil conservation office. Mr. Charland completed high school course at Mondovi.

Pre-nuptial events included a shower given by Mrs. Gust Holtz and Mrs. Wm. West at the home of the latter, at which many beautiful gifts were given. A lovely gift was presented the bride at a shower given by the soil conservation office where she was employed, and a kitchen shower was given by Rev. and Mrs. Longenecker and friends of her Sunday school class at Sunset Point.
