Stewart, Michael (15 JAN 1859 - 13 JAN 1936)

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon for Michael A. Stewart, town of Maplehurst (Taylor Co., Wis.) resident, who died at the home of his son, Wilbur, Monday morning about 10 o’clock.

He would have reached the age of 77 years had he lived until Wednesday, and had been a resident of that township for more than 15 years. His wife preceded him in death, Jun 2, 1930.

Upon his locating in Maplehurst, Mr. Stewart purchased the Redville Cheese Factory from Herman Bulgrin, and for eight years successfully conducted the same, later selling his factory to his son, Arthur, who has since conducted the business. After his retirement from business, he purchased 40 acres of land near Redville, and since that time has made his home on his farm, the past three months however, during his failing health, he has lived at the home of his son. Mr. Stewart had been in failing health for the past eight months, but it was not until recently that his condition was thought serious.

A short service was held at the Wilbur Stewart home, at 1:00 o’clock and at 2 o’clock services were held in the Methodist Church at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), Rev. George Kelsey of Thorp officiating. Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery.

Those surviving his demise are one brother, Thomas, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Malloy of Westfield, two daughters, Mrs. George Osterhaus, Plainfield, and Mrs. Olin Thompson, Rib Lake; four sons, Robert of High Bridge, Wis., and Arthur and Wilbur of Redville, and Oral of Milwaukee. One child died in infancy.
