Teclaw, Angeline Marie (June 9, 1921 - November 20, 2006)

Angeline M. Teclaw, age 85, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2006 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in Thorp. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, November 24, 2006 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary service. Pallbearers were Michael Teclaw, Dan Szymanski, Ken Teclaw, Tim Teclaw, Jerry Teclaw and Ron Teclaw.

Angeline Marie Teclaw was born on June 9, 1921 in Lublin, WI to Michael and Verna (Stroinski) Teclaw. She was a 1941 graduate of Thorp High School and went on to Gregg Business College in Chicago where she obtained a degree in accounting. Angie was employed by a stove company and then went on to work in the credit department for Englander Mattress Company. Union Carbide later purchased Englander and Angie continued in their credit department to ultimately become a credit analyst, handling many of the commercial farm accounts in the south.

During her professional career, she was a continuous member of the National Association of Credit Managers serving on their board for many years and as their national president during 1986 and 1987.

During WWII, Angie served as a USO volunteer at the Chicago YMCA on State Street. In 1958 the Chicago State Street Council awarded Angie the Volunteer of the Year. She also served in the Auxiliary of the VFW in Park Ridge, Illinois where she was very active. Angie was a continuous member there for 39 years and served as their president in 1967 and 1968. In their larger organization, the 4th VFW District, Angie served over the years as the secretary and treasurer from 1968 to 1985.

She retired from Union Carbide in 1989 and returned to live in Thorp in 1993. After returning to Thorp, Angie was a member of the Thorp Historical Society and served as president, was a very active member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary and served as secretary, was a member of the Thorp Alumni Association and Thorp Lioness Club.

Angie had many interests, but especially loved playing cards, bingo and needlecraft.

Angie is survived by nine siblings: Alois (Kathleen) Teclaw of Oshkosh, Malen "Butch" Teclaw of Thorp, Lillian Kaczmarek of Thorp, Marion (Margaret) Teclaw of Johnston, IA, Marcella (Leonard) Szymanski of Eau Claire, Raymond (Valeria) Teclaw of Thorp, Norbert (Nancy) Teclaw of Oak Park, IL, Richard (Marlys) Teclaw of Baraboo, David (Carol) Teclaw of Minnetonka, MN and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Verna Teclaw; one brother, Leon Teclaw; one sister, Florence Teclaw; one sister-in-law, Donna Teclaw; and one brother-in-law, Leon Kaczmarek.
