Etta, Valerie A. (22 NOV 1943)

Wearing A Sherwood green gabardine suit with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow tea roses and baby breath, Miss Valerie Ann Etta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Etta, North Kansas City, Mo., became the bride of George Edward Humke, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Humke of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), in a ceremony performed Monday, Nov 22, 1943, at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church at North Kansas City. Her only jewelry was a necklace, a gift of the groom.

The double ring service was read by the Rev. W.F. Gott before the altar banked with bouquets of gold and bronze chrysanthemums flanked with tall tapers. Robert Etta, brother of the bride, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. Kelley, who also played Mendelssohn’s wedding march, sang, "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother," and "Oh, Lord, I Am Not Worthy." Mr. Etta give his daughter in marriage.

Attendants were Mrs. Harry Palms, attired in a brown suit with matching accessories, and a corsage similar to the bride’s, and A.H. LeGault, the bride’s aunt and grandfather.

Viewing her daughter’s wedding and later at the dinner served to 30 guests at the Hotel President, Mrs. Etta wore a black chiffon frock and the groom’s mother was attired in a brown Bemberg ensemble. Both wore corsages of American beauty roses and baby breath.

When the couple returns from a honeymoon in Chicago they will reside in Kansas City where the groom is employed by North American Airways.

Guests were the groom’s mother, Mrs. Humke of Greenwood, and Mr. LeGault, grandfather of the bride from Owen, Wis.
