Finkle, Florraine (28 MAR 1945)

Miss Florraine Finkle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Finkle, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Pfc. August G. Franz of Greenwood, in a nuptial ceremony read in the Adventist Church at Withee, March 28, 1945, at high noon, with the Rev. John C. Klingeberger officiating. Mrs. Klingeberger played the wedding marches and soft music during the ceremony besides accompanying Miss Violet Hamel, of Withee, who sang, "Because," and "I Love You Truly."

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory colored gown of rayon taffeta, the skirt of which extended into a long train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was trimmed with lace and caught to a crown of seed pearls and she carried calla lilies.

For "something old" the bride carried her grandmother’s handkerchief; the small ribbon bow on her bouquet represented "something blue"; and "something borrowed" was the pearl necklace belonging to her aunt that she wore for jewelry.

Miss Lila Finkle, Murray, Ky., a sister of the bride, in a long frock of soft green satin and chiffon, was maid of honor, and Miss Laverne Gray, niece of the groom, and Miss Doloris Elmer, cousin of the bride, in similar frocks of orchid and yellow were bridesmaids. Miss Finkle carried a bouquet of yellow daffodils while the bridesmaids held yellow daffodils and white carnations.

Lloyd Hame, Withee, served as best man, and Thomas Elmer and Kenneth Gray, nephews of the groom, ushered.

Following the ceremony covers were laid for 40 guests at dinner at the Finkle home decorated in a white, yellow, orchid and green color scheme. A four-tier wedding cake made by Mrs. Alfred Schwarze, and decorated in the same colors centered the bride’s table.

Pfc. Franz, who is now stationed at Miami Beach, Fla., with the Army Air Corps, has served overseas for 23 months. Mrs. Franz is employed in Milwaukee.

Guests included Mrs. Walter Elmer and daughter, Mrs. Harry Brunn, and Miss Doloris Elmer, Milwaukee; Miss Lila Finkle, Murray, Ky.; Miss Laverne and Kenneth Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gray and family, Spencer; Miss Violet and Lloyd Hamel, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. William Franz and family, Owen, Wis.

Mrs. Otto Reineking and Mrs. Norbert Kuester served as cooks, while Gladys Kuester, Mrs. Mike Bolf, and Mrs. Edwin Franz waited on tables.
