Mrs. Stine Nelson Dies At Marshfield

Resided at Unity from 1884 to 1926, Funeral Services Were Held at Marshfield With Interment Made at Unity.

Mrs. Stine Nelson, aged 80 years, a well known resident of Unity, where she had made her home from 1884 to 1926, passed away Friday noon at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, where she had been admitted the day previous, suffering from a stroke.

She had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Franklin Graham in Marshfield and had been in poor health for the past 18 months.

Funeral services were conducted at the Seehafer and Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield Monday afternoon and burial took place at Unity.

The Rev. Arthur R. Oates, pastor of the First Presbyterian church at Marshfield had charge of the services at the funeral home and a prayer was offered by the Rev. Harry Lee of Thorp at the grave.

Rebekah rites were observed at the grave by Mrs. A. H. Bulmer, Mrs. H. F. Thiel, Mrs. L. J. Smith, Mrs. Mathilda Fenny, and Mrs. Albert Johnson.

The pallbearers were Mrs. Nelson’s son, Ed and Claude Nelson, and her grandsons, Lester, Russell, Ray and Pvt. Robert Binning.

Flowers were in charge of the granddaughters, Mrs. Ramona Lee, Rosemary and Majorie Mae Nelson, Ruby Christine Budahn, Mrs. Lester Binning, Mrs. Russell Binning, Mrs. Robert Binning and Miss Janice Foelske.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer of Unity, accompanied by their daughter, Elaine, sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide With Me" and "Nearer My God to Thee" at the grave.

Out town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Claude Nelson of Mauston; Mrs. Claude Nelson and Rosemary of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Binning and Ray Binning of Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Binning and Russell A Binning of Fond du Lac; Pvt. Robert Binning of Camp De Ridder, La.; Nels Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sorenson of Longwood; Mrs. Cecelia Jackson of Greenwood; Mrs. Carl Nelson, Miss Marjorie Mae Nelson, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Anderson of Stevens Point; Mrs. Arthur Long of Stanley; Mrs. Ralph Davis of Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Andrew Bergstrom of Chicago; Miss Jane Salter of Madison; Mrs. John Salter, Mrs. Ted Salter, Mr. and Mrs. George Cook, Mrs. Harriet Clark and Miss Louise Luchterhand of Unity; Miss Janice Foelske of Loyal; Mrs. Charles Krametbauer and daughter of Black River Falls; and Clayton Nelson of Black River Falls.

Stine Sorenson was born at Oslo Norway on Dec. 25,1863 and came from there to Eau Claire with her family when she was 18 years of age.

On October 31,1884 she was married to Chris Nelson at Eua Claire and they came to Unity where they lived until the death of Mr. Nelson in 1926. Since then Mrs. Nelson had divided her time between her home in Unity and the homes of her daughters in Marshfield.

She was a charter member of the VF (VFW) Auxiliary in Marshfield and also belonged to the Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are two sons, Ed of Marshfield and Claude of Mauston, and four daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Ruby) Graham, Mrs. Leo (Bernice) Budahn,and Mrs. Inga Firnstahl, all of Marshfield, and Mrs. Henry (Boghill) Binning of Unity. A brother, Nels Sorenson, of Longwood and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. One son, Carl, died two years ago another Oscar, died in infancy.
