Sarah was born on Dec. 14, 1964, in Neillsville, to parents Stan and Karleen (Young) Sternitzky. On Aug. 21, 1987, she was married to Richard Blanchard at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield. She graduated from Saint Joseph's School of Nursing in 1988 and was employed as a Quality Improvement Registered Nurse at Security Health Plan at the time of her illness.

During her career as a registered nurse, Sarah worked at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield Clinic, and Security Health Plan. Through her work, she was able to help others in many ways and enjoyed this immensely. Sarah treasured spending time with her husband and children at the family's cabin up north on Pine Lake. She was always very interested in nature and the outdoors and liked to relax by the campfire on the lake. She also enjoyed hiking, ATVing, swimming and boating. Sarah liked to photograph and scrapbook the memories she shared with the people she cared about.

Sarah was a loving and compassionate wife, mother and friend, who will be remembered for her smile that would light up the room. Even throughout her year long battle with kidney cancer, her courageous and determined personality glowed and she was an inspiration to many people.

Sarah is lovingly survived by her husband, Richard Blanchard; children Megan and Matt Blanchard, both at home; parents, Stan and Karleen Sternitzky of Cameron; and three sisters, Candace (Kevin) Huisman of Atwater, Minn., Cheryl (Doug) Foth of Green Bay, and Janalee (Harold) Kracht of Stillwater, Minn. Sarah was grateful for the loving relationship she shared with her mother-in-law, Marlene Blanchard of Marshfield.

She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Raymond Blanchard.

Memorials may be designated to the family for funding the college education of Sarah's children, Megan and Matt.
