Banfield, Eric A. (January 31, 1911 - October 10, 1981)

Thorp--Services for Eric A. Banfield, 70, of Thorp, who died Saturday at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, after suffering an apparent heart attack, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, the Rev. Richard L. Fliss, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home where there will be a rosary service at 8 p.m.

Mr. Banfield was born Jan. 31, 1911 in London, England, and came to the U.S. as a boy. He lived in Deerfield, Ill. until 1956 when he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Allis-Chalmers.

He lived in Souix Falls, S.D. and then moved to Thorp in 1980 where he operated the Cardinal Court Motel.

He was a veteran of World War II.

His first marriage was with Anna Druk who died in March 1968. He then married Casey Bailey on Sept. 23, 1969, and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughter, Mrs. Henry (Laura) Bruckschlager or Withee and Mrs. Richard (Erica) Anderson of Milford, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ed (Anita) Caldwell of Souix Falls, S.D. and Sheila Carter of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
