Masters, Estella (24 JUN 1915)

The Gleaner this week records the marriage of one of Greenwood’s (Clark Co., Wis.) most estimable and popular young ladies in the person of Miss Estella Masters, to Mr. Thomas Coan of Stevens Point, at St. Mary’s Church Thursday morning, June 24, 1915, at eight o’clock, Rev. Pollak officiating. The church ceremony was used in all solemnity and was witnessed by about thirty-five relatives and friends of the contracting parties.

At the time stated the nuptials took their place at the alter, the bride attired in white silk crepe de chine and carrying white roses. She was attended by the Misses Catherine Coan, sister of the groom, and Bessie McCormick, each carrying yellow roses.

The groom was dressed in the usual black and was attended by Messrs. Roy and Russell Masters.

Little Adine Hogue acted as flower girl and led the procession carrying yellow roses.

Immediately after the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. E.L. Ketchpaw. The room and tables were decorated in white and yellow and very tastily arranged.

After the breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Coan were taken to Withee, where they boarded a train for a wedding trip to Fond du Lac, Milwaukee and Chicago.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Masters and has been a resident of Greenwood since a small girl. Her education was received in the public school, graduating with the class of 1910. Since this time she has been a very successful teacher in the rural schools and has won a circle of admiring friends through her winning ways.

The groom has been a life long resident of Stevens Point, and is said to be a capable young man of good character and honesty. He has been employed the past four years as brakeman on the Soo Line.

Those from out of town who were here to attend the wedding are the groom’s parents and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coan and daughter, Catherine, of Stevens Point; Henry and Nick Sleeter and wife, and Nick Boullion of Fairchild,a nd Mr. and Mrs. Barber of Withee.

The newlyweds were recipients of many beautiful and costly presents which shows the high esteem in which they are held.

The Gleaner joins in wishing them a most prosperous life.
