Mathison, Ole (19 AUG 1846 - 13 JUL 1936)

Ole Mathison, resident of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) since 1886, passed away at his farm home there Monday, July 13, 1936, at 2:15 a.m.

Mr. Mathison was born at Lardal, Norway, a son of Mathias and Bertha Gulexson Mathison, being the eldest of four children, who all have preceded him in death.

At the age of 21 he came to the United States, first stopping in Jefferson County for four months, then going to Waukesha County, where he remained until the fall of 1870, being engaged as a farm hand.

In the fall of that year Mr. Mathison came to Black River Falls and a few days later moved on to Clark County, where he worked as foreman for Bright and Withee for over 20 years.

He was married to Mary Buyatt on Jan. 12th, 1886. To this union was born one daughter, Bertha, who resides at Minot, N.D., and one son, Oscar, who passed away 12 years ago.

In the spring of 1886 he located on his farm in the Town of Longwood, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Mr. Mathison leaves to mourn his death, his daughter, Mrs. Bertha Dales, and eight grandchildren.

He was buried at the Longwood Lutheran Cemetery July 15th, of which church he has been a member for many years.
