Wellner, Rose Marie (June 19, 1917 - January 25, 2007)

Rose M Wellner, age 89, of Thorp, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died at 0ur Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, on Thursday, January 25, 2007. Funeral Services were held at 1030 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Fr. John Long officiated and burial followed in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Rose Marie Kwiatkowski was born on June 19, 1917 in Springfield, IL to Martin and Hedwig (Kaczmarek) Kwiatowski.* As a young girl, Rose’s family moved to Lublin, WI where she was raised on the family farm and received her education at Clark School. After completing her educations, she went to work in Chippewa Falls for Northern Colony. She was united in marriage to Raymond J. Wellner on June 21, 1939 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. They bought a farm near Thorp and Rose was a homemaker and farm wife until they retired and sold the farm in the later 1970’s. They then purchased a house and moved to Chippewa Falls. After retiring, Rose’s main concern was caring for her husband, Raymond. She had many interests, but especially loved playing cards, gardening, fishing, crocheting and going on picnics.

She is survived by one sister, Anna Grajek of Lublin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on July 17, 2002; one daughter, Mary Ann Wellner on December 9, 1957; and two sisters, Sophie Kacher and Joanne Pfeiffer.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

*The name was spelled both ways in the obituary in the Thorp Courier ‘Kwiatowski’ and Kwiatkowski’.)
