Counsell, Illa (Marriage - 1941)

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Milwaukee outwitted his brother, Neil Johnson, and his bride, Ila Counsell, Sunday when they appeared as uninvited and unseen guests at their wedding, which took place in the Methodist parsonage in Neillsville, Wis.

Preceding the wedding party at the Asp home, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson asked to be concealed during the ceremony, appearing at the close of the service to surprise and congratulate the newlyweds.

The single-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Obed Asp at 2 p.m., Mr. and Mrs. Laurin Mallory, close friends of the couple, acting as witnesses. The bride was dressed in a blue street costume, wearing a pink suit for traveling.

Mrs. Johnson, an instructor in the primary department of the Granton School system for four years, was a graduate of the Neillsville high school and of Eau Claire State Teachers college. During the past year she taught in the schools at Hammond, Wis. She was a brilliant student and an excellent instructor. Mr. Johnson was graduated from the Loyal High school. He worked for a time in the Granton bank, later taking the position as an automobile salesman for the Brown Auto company of Loyal, the position which he holds at the present time.

The couple left on a wedding trip to the northern part of the state, planning to return Wednesday evening.
