Ames, Irene (30 JUL 1930)

Announcement was received here (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.) this morning of the marriage of Irene Ames, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Ames of Athens, to Vernie C. Ellingson, son of Mrs. Carl Ellingson of Stetsonville, on Wednesday, July 30, 1930, at 3:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church at Athens, Rev. Perkins of Wausau officiating.

The bride was beautifully attired in a white silk crepe gown with veil, and carried a bouquet of roses and sweet peas. Eleanor Ames, a sister of the bride, was the bridesmaid and wore pink silk and carried a bouquet of snapdragons and sweet peas. The groom was attended by the bride’s brother, Ralph Ames, and the gentlemen both wore the conventional dark suits.

After the wedding, the bridal party repaired to the home of the bride’s parents, which was prettily decorated in white, pink and yellow, and partook of a wedding dinner served to about twenty-two guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellingson left the next day for a four or five day wedding trip up to the lakes in the northern part of the state, after which they will be at home on the groom’s farm east of Stetsonville, which he purchased from his parents in the early spring.

We know little of the bride except that she is a graduate of Athens High School and Marathon County Normal, and has been a teacher of exceptional ability, but we trust Vernie to pick a winner. Vernie is a fine, steady young man, whose occupation is farming in the up-to-the minute methods and we predict a long, happy and prosperous married life and we take pleasure in join with a host of friends in offering congratulations.
