Waldquist, Adolph (22 OCT 1861 - 22 SEP 1930)

Last Monday morning the remains of Adolph Waldquist arrived here (Dorchester, Clark, Co., Wis.) from Seattle and the funeral was conducted at the Little White Church at 2 p.m., Rev. Walter officiating. Interment was made in the Medford Cemetery, and Dave Peterson, Ben Anderson, E.K. Evenson, Martin, Wm. And Ed Brecke, all of Stetsonville, acted as pallbearers.

Adolph Waldquist was born Oct. 22, 1861, in Sweden, and came to the United States in 1888. He located in Milwaukee and there he married Hilma Munson in 1892. About 8 years later they moved to Taylor County on a farm near Stetsonville, and there Mrs. Waldquist died Sept. 14, 1923.

Shortly after her death, Mr. Waldquist came to Dorchester where he resided until last December, when ill health made it practical for him to be with someone and as his only child, a daughter, was living in Seattle, he went there and stayed until death called.

Mr. Waldquist was a quiet, unassuming man and a general favorite with all who knew him. He had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke as much as anyone, but he also realized the earnestness of life and faced all issues squarely. He will keenly missed by his many friends here.

Besides his daughter, Mrs. Roy Nicholas, he leaves a granddaughter, one sister, Mrs. E.M. Gustafson of Chicago, three brothers and two sisters in Sweden. Those who were her for the funeral were his sister, Mrs. Gustafson, her sons, Elmer and Rudolph, Elmer’s wife and her daughter, Esther Gustafson, all of Chicago, Carl Osterburg of Rockford, Ill., and a host of friends in Stetsonville.
