Schiebe, Henry L. (31 OCT 1861 - 20 JAN 1931)

Henry Louis Schiebe passed away Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 at his home in the town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.) after a lingering illness. At the time of death, Mr. Schiebe had attained the age of 69 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was born in Manistee, Michigan, and later moved to Sheboygan Falls, Wis., where he resided with his parents until 1881, when they came to the town of Holton to reside.

On Dec. 24, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Markowski of the same town. Four children blessed this happy union; Alfred of Athens, Mrs. Delia Hayles of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. John Minkema of Milwaukee, and Arthur of the town of Holton. His first wife died on May 23rd, 1898.

Mr. Schiebe was remarried Sept. 16, 1898 to Miss Caroline Ludwig of the town of Holton. Seven children blessed this happy pair; Mrs. Margaret Spence of West Allis, Thea Schiebe of San Francisco, Calif., Henry of the town of Holton, Mrs. Edith Lawrence of Milwaukee, Ethel of Chicago, Mrs. Ruth Kaffernus of Dorchester, and George of the town of Holton. Besides his beloved wife, he leaves three brothers and three sisters to mourn his loss; Herman of Milwaukee, Charles and Edwin of the town of Holton, Mrs. Amelia Lebrea of Madison, Mrs. Ida Schramm and Mrs. Anna Thompson, both of Milwaukee.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon in the Peace Evangelical Church with Rev. J.R. Kalwitz officiating. Interment will be made in the Peace Evangelical Cemetery (actually buried in Memorial South Cemetery, not North) with William Hennlich, Nicholas Decker, John Kadonsky, Albert Schultz, John Anderson and Theodore Wehrmann acting as pallbearers.

Mr. Schiebe was a sincere church member and was revered by many of his friends and his passing is deeply felt by all who happened to make his acquaintance. The Clarion joins the many neighbors and friends in offering sincerest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
