Hunt, Sarah E. (12 MAR 1847 - 9 MAR 1931)

The community was saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. S.E. Hunt Monday morning at 6 o’clock at the home of her son, Lewis, at Indianapolis, Ind. From all knowledge she was in apparently good health up to shortly before here death, which was a shock to her folks here.

Sarah E. Hunt was born March 12, 1847, at Deckertown, N.J. She grew to womanhood there and in 1869 she was united in marriage to Benjamin E. Hunt, who passed away in 1912 at the age of 80. During the first year of their marriage they moved to Lodi, N.Y. In July 1873 they came to Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), spending more than 20 years in this community. In 1894 the Hunts moved to Stevens Point where Mr. Hunt died. In 1915 Mrs. Hunt left for Waukegan, Ill., where she resided five years before leaving for Washington, D.C., where she lived until a short while ago, when she went to live with her son, Lewis, at Indianapolis. At the time of her death, Mrs. Hunt lacked 4 days of being 84. Burial took place yesterday at Deckertown, N.J., where her husband is buried.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by four children, L.W. Hunt of Indianapolis, Ind.; Frank Hunt at the naval station at Sydney, Australia; Mrs. Myrtle Inskeep of Kansas City, Mo.; and Al Hunt of Dorchester; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who mourn her loss.

Mrs. Hunt had planned to visit here with her son and family this spring and, in spite of her advanced age, was making plans for the trip as well as being active in everyday life. Mrs. Hunt will be remembered by many of the old settlers around here and they all join with the Clarion in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.
