Ray, Margaret (11 Sept. 1882 - 15 June 1938)

Funeral services for Mrs. John Ray, who passed away at the hospital in Black River Falls, early Wednesday morning, June 15th, were held at the Reformed Church on Saturday afternoon, June 18th, and were attended by many sorrowing relatives and friends. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery. Many beautiful flowers expressed the esteem which she was held by all who knew her. Rev. V. D. Weidler officiated at the services.

Margaret Kelsh, known to all her friends as Maggie, daughter of Nick and Anna Kelsh, was born in Garden Valley, Jackson County, Wisconsin, Sept. 11, 1882. She was one of a family of nine children. Her parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded her to the Great Beyond.

On Dec. 21, 1905, she was united in marriage with John Ray, the ceremony being performed in this village, and here she spent the first few years of her wedded life. Since then the home has been on a farm in Garden Valley.

Mrs. Ray was the mother of two children, Mrs. Clifford Rossow, of Eau Claire, and Earl, who resides on the home farm in Garden Valley, who, with the husband, and two grandchildren, Virginia Mae Hoch and Jacqueline Joy Ray, mourn her death. Three sisters and two brothers survive: Mary Kelsh, Mrs. Josie Lang, of West Salem; Mrs. Bertha Dixon, of Omaba, Nebr. Mrs. Lizzie Reineck, of Hixton; Louis, of Milwaukee; and Ervin, of Humbird, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Relatives from away attending the burial services were: Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Rossow, Eau Claire; Mrs. Lucia Zook and family, Augusta; Mrs. Frank Ray and son Will, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ray, Jr. and family, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lang and family, West Salem; Adolph Reineck and family, Hixton; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kelsh and family, Miss Marjorie Kelsh, Milwaukee; Mrs. Dora Kelsh, Humbird’ Mr. and Mrs. Will Leiser, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Silas J. Knutson, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Klemish and Fred, Eau Claire; Albert Head, Humbird.
