Leiser, Frederick (17 May 1882 - 20 June 1938)

Frederick Leiser was born May 17, 1882, at Niederhungen, canton Bern, Switzerland. He was the oldest child of the seven born to Jacob and Elizabeth Leiser. He spent his boyhood days in his town, where he received his public school education, and in February, 1911, he emigrated to the United States, settling in Green County, Wisconsin, where he was engaged as cheese maker for four years. In 1915, he came to Humbird, and settled on a farm east of town. He was married to Miss Laura Durham, July 6, 1917.

He failed in health the latter part of May and was taken to the Neillsville hospital on May 30th. After every effort had been made for his recovery, he passed away at the hospital, June 20th, attaining the age of 56 years, 1 month and 3 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife, one daughter, Louise, one brother, Jacob and one sister, Mrs. Anna Gysin, of near Neillsville, and three sisters in Switzerland, besides a host of friends.

Mr. Leiser was a member of St. John’s Reformed church of this village, where the funeral services where held last Thursday afternoon, June 23rd, the Rev. V. D. Weidler preaching the sermon. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Deceased was an exceptionally good neighbor, always willing to help and lend a hard wherever needed, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends from away attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Leiser and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gottfred Gysin, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gooder, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Laurence McKivitt, Merrillan; Geo. Durham, Hixton; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gower, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Erickson, Granton.
