Mayer, Rosine (15 Oct. 1876 - 8 Nov. 1938)

Rosine Baumgartner was born in *Lauchheim, Wuertemberg, Germany, October 15, 1876, coming to America when twenty years of age, in December, 1896. She was united in marriage to Anton Mayer, March 1st, 1897, at St. Joseph’s church, Fairview, Fr. Hofer officiating. They started housekeeping on the farm three miles north of this village, which was her home the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Mayer passed away at her home Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1938, at the age of 62 years, 1 month, 7 days. Surviving are her husband, four sons, Ted, Fairchild; Herman, Eau Claire; Tony and Joseph, Humbird; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Zimmerman, Mrs. Tracy Bemis, and Miss Helen, Humbird; and sixteen grandchildren. Two sisters in Germany also mourn her death.

The funeral services were held Friday morning, Nov. 11, at St. Joseph’s church, Fairview, the Rev. J. J. Sheridan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her four sons and two sons-in-law.

The services were largely attended by friends and neighbors from here and away, those from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kranz, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. J. Berg, Mary Bergman, Eau Claire; Mrs. Geo. Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. John Schmid, Mrs. Matt. Brandstedter, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kaufman, Mrs. Kate Daniels, Augusta; Mrs. Gregory Gorst and children, Neillsville, Wis.

Mrs. Mayer always took an active part in church and social affairs and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a patient sufferer to the end and her family were all at her beside when she was called to the Great Beyond.
