Thayer, Agnes L. (28 Jun. 1856 - 17 Aug. 1946)

Mrs. Agnes L. Thayer, 90, of Unity, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Saturday morning at 1:30.

Agnes Patrick Thayer was born June 28, 1856 at Campbellsport, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Thayer suffered a fall on Friday, in which she broke her leg and death came as a result of shock and old age.

Short funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Swarthout Funeral Home in Spencer and on Monday the body was taken to Campbellsport where funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church with burial being made in the Union Cemetery at Campbellsport.

Surviving are her brother-in-law, Wm. J. Thayer, with whom she had made her home the past several years and nine nieces and nine nephews.

Agnes Patrick Thayer, eldest child of John and Katherine Patrick and last survivor of a family of two sons and four daughters, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Wis. Saturday, August 17, 1946 at 1:30 A.M. She was born in the Town of Aseolo, Fond du Lac County, June 28, 1856 and spent her entire life in that county with the exception of the last few years which were spent her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thayer of Unity, Wisconsin. After the death of her sister in 1941, she continued to make her home with her brother-in-law and in spite of her advanced age was able to perform household duties until she fell near the door step and fractured her leg Friday, August 16. Death was caused by old age and shock. Her husband, Isaac Thayer, died in 1928 and her only child, a son, John, died in early manhood. She is survived by several nieces and nephews among them Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobitz and Ben Burnett of Spencer.

A service was held at Spencer Funeral Home on Sunday, August 18 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Arthur Oats of the First Presbyterian Church of Marshfield officiating. On Monday the remains were taken to Campbellsport, Wisconsin where services were held at the Methodist Church with the pastor Rev. Lyle Stephenson officiating.

Interment was made in the village cemetery in the family lot. Pall bearers were old neighbors and friends, Ernest Odikerg, John Thompson, Emil Tarsuid, William Polezean, Fred Buslaff, and ? Roehl. Those attending the burial from here were Mr. W. Thayer and Mrs. Bert Hubbard of Unity and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burnett of Spencer.
