Konecny, Frank G. #2 (29 MAY 1910 - 1 AUG 1932)

Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) friends were greatly shocked to learn of the sudden death of Frank Konecny, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Konecny, Sr., who was accidentally shot at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wagner, east of Cadott about 7 o’clock Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, 1932. Frank arrived at Wagner’s Monday night enroute to Baldwin for an engagement Tuesday morning and was induced to spend the night. While talking to the folks the next morning Frank told of a man looking for a bookkeeper, and during the conversation he went to his car to get the address for them. Due to being held up recently, Frank carried a revolver in the car and in reaching for the papers in the car the gun was accidentally discharged. The bullet entered just forward of the left ear, killing him instantly. Medical aid was summoned at once but there was no help and A.N. Rudesill, justice of Cadott established the death as accidental.

The body was brought to his home near this village and funeral services were held this (Friday) afternoon at 1:30 at the house and 2:00 at the Evangelical Salem Church with Rev. L. Thiel officiating.

The Masonic order took charge following the church services and a Masonic service was read at the Memorial Cemetery, where interment took place.

Frank George Konecny was born on the farm home, northeast of the village on May 29, 1910 and was 22 years, 2 months and 11 days old at the time of his death. He grew to young manhood on the farm, attending the grades at the Draper School and high school at Dorchester, from which he graduated in 1928. The following year he attended the State Teacher’s College at Stevens Point. He taught his first year near Colby and the two preceding years at a Withee school. At the time of the fatal accident he was employed by the Wis. National Life Insurance Co. of Oshkosh. He was planning on establishing a branch office at Baldwin in the near future.

Besides his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Konecny, he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Anna Ellickson of Marion, Ind., Mrs. Mary Kaiser of Athens, and Miss Emma, at home, and one brother, Joseph C. Konecny, at home to mourn his sudden passing.

To the many who knew Frank he was a fine, upstanding young man who, with his friendly manner and hearty smile, gained a host of friends wherever he went. His determination to become a success is shown through his excellent teaching record and high standing in the company he was employed by as well as in the Masonic order, of which he was a member. Though it seems inconceivable that his life should be cut so short, but only his Maker knew why and only He can give the family the comfort and guidance they need during this dark hour.
