Adeline, the last of a family of four daughters, was born to Sanford Zeen and Melvina Smith, pioneer residents of Houghtonburg, October 30, 1863. Her happy girlhood days were spent on the farm of her birth.

On January 4, 1882, she was married to Charles Hillard Russell, a union that was blessed with five children: Elsie Vera, Zeen Claude, Walter Hugh, Mark Hillard and Ray Mulford. The husband and father passed away May 9, 1918, and three children, Elsie (Mrs. Geo. Field), Zeen and Ray, preceded their mother to the Eternal Home. Surviving, in addition to her two sons, Hugh and Mark; are fourteen grandchildren.

Since the fall of 1902, Mrs. Russell has lived in the village, the family conducting the Webster House for a number of years. She was always a dutiful wife and loving mother; she gave generously of herself to promote the welfare of those she loved. She was member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Order of the Eastern Star and to these institutions she was deeply devoted.

After months of patient suffering, in the early evening hours of Tuesday, May 15, her beautiful spirit passed from all earthly pain and tribulation. Her two sons, Hugh and Mark, were beside her as the Angel of Death silently descended, tenderly rendering every service that loving hands can give.

The funeral was held last Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. G. W. Vaughan delivering the sermon. The burial rites of the Order of the Eastern Star were given at the grave in Houghtonburg Cemetery by the officers of Humbird Chapter No. 109, of which deceased was a member.
