Mrs. Louis Cook passed away Saturday morning, July 17, at the home of her daughter at Wausau. She was formerly Effie DuCate, who lived in Spencer many years ago. The DuCates owned and operated the only jewelry shop in Spencer at that time, later going to Unity to live. She was married there to Louis Cook, brother of George and Walter Cook. They moved to Wausau where Mr. Cook was a postmaster. Mr. Cook preceded her in death several years ago. Four children, two sons and two daughters, and one brother, Irving DuCote survive. Funeral services were held at Wausau Wednesday. Mrs. Cook visited Unity about two years ago and attended the Spencer Pioneers picnic at that time.

Effie DuCote was born November 3, 1874 at Neillsville and was married January 1, 1897 in Unity to ? H. Cook. Mr. Cook, before moving to Wausau, was editor and publisher of the Marathon County Register.

Surviving are two sons, Neal J. Cook of Long Beach, Calif., and Russell H. Cook of Wausau; two daughters, Mrs. F. H. Patterson of Schofield, and Mrs. R. H. Sternitzky of Wausau; a ***The rest of the article is cut off, and unavailable at the time of transcription***
