Hernandez, Antonio, Jr. (Oct. 26, 1948 - October 31, 1992)

Neillsville--Antonio "Tony" Hernandez Jr., 44, Granton, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the town of Dewey, Portage County.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsvoille, with the Rev. Charles Schumacher officiating. Music will be provided by Jeanette Steiner.

Burial will be in Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Pallbearers will be Scott Stillman, Anthony Asuncion, Peter Jennings, Gary Herbert, David Hernandez and Tony Hernandez III.

He was born Oct. 25, 1948 in Laredo, Texas, to Antonio and Clara (Luna) Hernandez Sr. He was educated in Texas and Michigan. He married Diane L. Diaz Dec. 24, 1969 in Chicago.

After his education, he worked for Motgomery Wards in Chicago and later worked as a chef at Marriott restaurants in the Chicago area. He and his wife moved to the Granton area in 1969 and he began working for Nelson Muffler in Neillsville, Wis. He was employed there until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Wednesday Night National Bowling League, the National Rifle Association, Pro Bass and the Neillsville Horseshoe League. He also played on the Nelson Muffler softball team.

He is survived by his wife; one son Antonio R. Hernandez III of Granton; one daughter, Mrs. Petter (Michele) Jennings of Chicopee, Mass.; his father of Texas; five sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Alice) Hoppe of Cass City, Mich. and Mrs. Kenneth (Rosie) Wold, Mrs. Rolando (Maria) Arqumedo, Mrs. Yolanda Gonzalez and Mrs. Richard (Lucy) Romo, all of Chicago; five brothers, Danny Luna of Norwalk, Calif., and Hector Hwrnandez of Whittier, Calif., and Robert and David Hernandez and John Duran, all of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother and one brother.
