Johnson, Vivian Esther (24 May 1945)

On Thursday, May 24, at high noon, Roy James Justman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Justman of Unity, and Miss Vivian Esther Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Johnson of Unity, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony read by the Rev. Fred Meske of Marshfield, before the flower-decked altar of the Trinity Lutheran church in Unity. The organ prelude was played by Mrs. Walter Wieland and Mrs. Alfred Johnson and Miss Esther Anderson of Unity sang a duet, "I Love You Truly," accompanied by Mrs. Wieland. Sgt. Leo Hilber of Abbotsford played the wedding marches on his piano accordion. Attendants were Miss Verna Johnson, sister of the bride, as maid of honor; Marvin Justman, a brother of the groom, best man; Miss Betty Domer of Minneapolis, a cousin of the groom, bridesmaid; and Walter Johnson, a brother of the bride, as groomsman.

For her wedding the bride wore a white sheer ninon frock trimmed with alencon lace and styled with a round high neckline, a snug fitting basque, and a full skirt ending in a long train. A tiara of seed pearls held her fingertip veil of illusion and she carried a shower bouquet of talisman and Johanna Hill roses, laceflowers and swansonia. For jewelry she wore a heart-shaped locket, a gift of the groom. Her sister attendant was attired in a blue ninon frock made with a snug fitting bodice and ballerina skirt. Her matching blusher veil was caught to flowers in her hair and she carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations. Miss Domer wore a pink dress, the basque of which was lace and the skirt net. Her pink veil and flowers were similar to those worn by the maid of honor. Robert Messer, a cousin of the groom, carried the rings on a calla lily, and Eileen Johnson, a sister of the bride, wearing a long white net dress and blusher veil and carrying a bouquet of snapdragons and carnations, was flower girl. Mothers of both the bride and groom were attired in navy blue ensembles and had shoulder corsages of Johanna Hill roses and gladioli blossoms.

Following the wedding ceremony dinner and supper were served to 90 guests at the home of the bride’s parents, where during the afternoon a reception was held. The house was decorated with white, pink and blue streamers and a white wedding bell, and a three-tiered wedding cake decorated with pink roses centered the table. After a wedding trip to Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Chicago and the Dells, the couple will return to Marshfield to make their home. Both Mr. and Mrs. Justman were graduated from the Unity, Wis. High school, the bridegroom with the class of 1942, and Mrs. Justman in 1943. He is employed in Marshfield, as was also the bride.

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Anderson and Rev. and Mrs. Meske of Marshfield; Mrs. Isobel Steinke and Sheila Sue of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Justman and Mrs. Minnie Matteson of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson and Sgt. and Mrs. Leo Hilber and Jean from Abbotsford, Wis.
