Waldhart, Ralph (1931? - 14 Sept. 1945)

Ralph Waldhart, 14 years of age, a sophomore in the Spencer high school, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Waldhart, died at St. Joseph hospital early last Friday morning. He was taken to the hospital Sunday, Sept. 9. The body was brought to the Swarthout Funeral Home in Spencer, and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Spencer Methodist church with the Rev. Ellery J. Beal, pastor of the church, in charge of the services. Internment was made in the Spencer cemetery.

The pall bearers were Ralph’s school friends: Spence Graves, Robert Fritsch, Jeffery Parrette, Elroy Huber, Billy Beisner and Richard Keves. Flower attendants were Ruth and Marjory Waldhart, Marian Handel, Marjory Kuethe, Bernadine and Eunice Griepentrog, Gloria Schmitt, Theone Mellenthin, Lois and Vera Freeman, Joann Karau, Ardith Westfall.

The church was thronged with Ralph’s friends, both young and old, for he was a friend of everyone. Beautiful flowers massed about the casket bore mute testimony of the love and respect in which Ralph was held in the community. A girls choir composed of school girls led by Mrs. Robert Nerbun, sang two very appropriate numbers: Now the Day Is Over and Jesus Lover of My Soul. Rev. Ellery Beal paid high and beautiful tributes throughout his discourse to Ralph’s short life.
