Rasmussen, Walter #2 (16 Aug. 1909 - 16 Dec. 1994)

Walter Rassmussen, 85, of Willard, Wis., passed away at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, Wis., on Friday, Dec. 16, 1994 at 9 p.m.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1994, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood, Wis., with the Rev. Harold Schlobohm officiating. Pallbearers were Shane Rassmussen, Mark Denk, Tim Denk, John Denk, Jamie Denk, and Mike Kitzhaber. Burial was in Westside Cemetery.

The body lay in state at Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood on Monday, Dec.10 from 5 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Rasmussen was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Haughton, Mich., to Adolph and Ethel (Iverson) Rasmussen. He received his education in Greenwood and University of Wisconsin. He married Julia Krze Oct. 5, 1935, in Waukegan, ILL. After school he went on to Madison to the University to get his Cheesemaker's license. Since 1928 he owned and operated Elmdale Cheese Factory until retiring in 1977. He entered Marshfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in September 1992.He resided there until his death. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; two sons; Roy (Mary) of Greenwood, Wis., Gary(Tina) of Eau Claire, Wis. three daughters; Shirley (John) Denk of Waukesha, Wis., Ethel Solmonson of Apple Valley, Minn., Patricia (Myron) Netterlund of Brooklyn, Park, Minn., 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother: Raymond Rasmussen of Marshfield Wis.

He was predeceased by his parents.
