Ewert, Emma Paulina (9 Sept. 1881 - 8 Sept. 1956)

Unity, Wis. - Mrs. Charles F. Ewert, pioneer resident of Unity, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Saturday afternoon - a day before her 74th birthday. Death was due to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church here and burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Claude Vander Stroep will officiate.

Friends may pay their respects at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby.

Mrs. Ewert was born Emma Paulina Voth Sept. 9, 1881 in the town of Unity, where she continued to reside for seven years after her marriage to Mr. Ewert on April 17, 1901, at St. John’s Lutheran Church north of Spencer. The couple then farmed in the town of Brighton for 33 years, moving to this village after their retirement in 1942.

Besides her husband she leaves five children, Mrs. George (Linda) Strohman, Marshfield; Mrs. Irene Lynn and Edwin, Wausau; Myron, Plymouth; and Walter, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Wagner, St. Paul and Mrs. Anton Korntved, Unity; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Korntved.

Unity, Wis. - The Rev. Claude Vander Stroep officiated at funeral rites for Mrs. Emma Ewert Tuesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church here. The church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Henry Binning at the organ, sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Face to Face."

Internment took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Carlson, Frank Meyer, Fred Loughead, William Siegrist, Gust Carlson and Leonard Nickel; and flowers were in charge of Dora Ewert, Mrs. Donald Korntved, Mrs. Frank Meyer, Mrs. Elmer Carlson, Mrs. Martin Evenson and Mrs. Fred Loughead.

Mrs. Ewert, who was 74 years old, died Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, following a heart attack.
