Grush, Earl W. (5 May 1882 - 1936)

Earl W. Grush, whose death occurred May 11 at Marshfield hospital, was born in Houghtonburg May 5, 1882, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Grush. On June 6, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Blanche Wilson, and to this union were born four children, two sons, Willard and Roy, who preceded their father in death, and two daughters, Mrs. Viva Clemens and Faiella.

Mr. and Mrs. Grush resided in Humbird when first married, when he engaged in the livery and dray business. Later they lived on the Grush farm, and when Mrs. Grush’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orin Wilson, retired they occupied the Wilson farm, now owned by Fred Trachsel. In 1913 he purchased the C. F. Houghton place, which has since been the family home.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Orders and was active in the different divisions. As one of the members of the building committee, he was instrumental in erecting the fine temple in this village. His home was the scene of many social affairs, late years.

Mourning his death are the wife and two daughters, one grandson, Eugene Earl; and three sisters, Mrs. Effie Dun of Alma Center, Mrs. Mae Hanson of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Bessie Holdorson of Mondovi.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, and were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. Fahlgren preached the sermon, and burial rites of the Odd Fellows order were given at the grave in Houghtonburg Cemetery.
