Clarence Wendtland

Clarence Wendtland, 78, Edgar, died Sunday, April 8th, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. John Lutheran Church - High Steeple, Town of Wien. The Reverend Matthew Christian will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Clarence was born September 22nd 1928 in Edgar to Arthur and Marcella (Smith) Wendtland.

On February 20th, 1952, he married Darlene Weldon at Wuertzburg Catholic, Church. Marcella preceded him in death on December 18th, 2005.

Throughout his life, Clarence farmed in the Edgar area and hauled milk for many years. He was a founding member of the Rib Falls Lion’s Club. Among his many interests were deer hunting, polka dancing, car collecting and attending tractor pulls.

Survivors include six children, Janice (Steven) Soczka, Jim (Pattie) Wendtland, Larry (Janice) Wendtland, all of Edgar, Lois (Ron) Maldonis, Abbotsford, Gary (Gail) Wendtland, Edgar and Gale, (Wayne) Waddle, Lafayette, IN; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one brother, Floyd (Joyce) Wendtland, Chippewa Falls.

Besides his parents and wife Darlene, Clarence was preceded in death by two grandsons and one sister Mildred Schlichting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rib Falls Lions Club.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is assisting the family with arrangements.
