Luther, Ella (24 Sept. 1900 - 5 Dec. 1961)

Mrs. Otto Luther, 61, of 1108 Becker Road, died of a heart attack at her home about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. T. P. Bradtke officiating. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery.

The body will repose at Hansen’s Funeral Home from this evening until 11 a.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church.

The former Ella Mellenthin was born Sept. 24, 1900 in Spencer. At an early age she moved to Stevens Point, where she received her education and lived there until 1916, when she returned to Spencer. Prior to her marriage to Otto Luther July 9, 1918 she was employed in a physician’s office in Wausau.

After their marriage, the couple operated a cheese factory in Loyal until 1925, when they moved to McMillan and operated the Cloverdale Cheese Factory there. In 1946 they came to Marshfield. Mrs. Luther was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Chester (Angeline) Seehafer, Mrs. William (Berdeen) Stroetz, and Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Wills, all of Marshfield, and Mrs. Hugo (Marcella) Lau, Loyal; two sons, LaVern, route 1, Marshfield, and Frederick, at home; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Edna) Brei, Arpin, and Mrs. Albert (Alma) Utecht, New Rockford, N.D.; two brothers, Jack Mellenthin, Marshfield, and Edwin Mellenthin, Neenah, and two half sisters, Mrs. Herman (Emma) Nehring and Mrs. Anna Schultze, Wausau.

She was preceded in death by two sons.
