Otto A. Mellenthin, 86, of 1517 S. Locust Ave. died at 3:45 a.m. today at the Marshfield Convalescent Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with bural in Hillside Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Ronald Jansen will officiate.
Visitation will be at the Hansen Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Friday and until 9:30 a.m. Saturday and then at the church after 10 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Norman Mellenthin, Kenneth Mellenthin, Wilbur Mellenthin, Arthur Schwantes, Allen Dietsche and Willard Fromme.
He was born March 14, 1896, at Spencer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Christina) Mellenthin. He received his education in the Spencer area schools and took a course in agriculture at the University of Wisconsin.
He and Mary Itzen were married on Nov. 19, 1919 at Spencer. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1969. He was a cheesemaker all of his life. He operated cheese factories at Unity, Klondike and the Mann Cheese Factory at Mannville. He retired in 1954.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Arnold Mellenthin of Marshfield; a foster son, Kenneth Wills of Marshfield; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Schultz of Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
