Dunn, Margaret (Jul 1859 - 1936)

Mrs. Margaret Dunn, of Alma Center, was instantly killed at Merrillan Sunday, when about to board a train for Eau Claire. Mrs. Dunn, who was 77 years old, had purchased a ticket for Eau Claire, and on hearing a train coming rushed out of the depot and tried to cross the tracks ahead of a train, which she thought was the passenger train. It was a freight train pulling into the Merrillan yards, clearing the track for the passenger train. The engine struck her on the right side and head, throwing her to the brick platform. Death resulted probably before she struck the platform. Mrs. Dunn was not identified for a couple of hours, as no one about the depot was acquainted with her. Earl Randles of Alma Center, indentified her, after inquires were made. Deceased was an old resident of Garden Valley and also of Houghtonburg. She was the widow of Henry Dun, who died several years ago, and a sister of the late Emory Brunson. Several sons and daughters survive, some of whom reside in Eau Claire, where she was enroute for at the time of traffic death.
