Amanda B. Wampole

THORP -- Amanda Bell Wampole, 74, of Thorp, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Thorp Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will be at the East Thorp Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thorp Funeral Home.

She was born March 31, 1933, to Charles and Margaret (Dormandy) Oldham of the town of Pine Valley, rural Neillsville, Wis. She married Lyle Wampole on Jan. 6, 1951, in Neillsville, Wis. They operated a dairy farm in Fairchild until 1969, when they moved to Thorp, where they farmed until 1978. Amanda also owned and operated the Ice Cream Parlor in Thorp for several years. Her husband preceded her in death on June 17, 1992.

She is survived by seven children, Lyn (Scott) Ford, Thorp, Wayne (Janet) Wampole, Neillsville, Bryan Wampole and Carol (Keith) Haas, both of Thorp, Bonnie (Brian) Gwiazda, Chippewa Falls, Judy Wampole and Jennifer (Brian) Haas, both of Thorp; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by seven brothers, Gordon (Shirley) Oldham, Greenwood, Dick (Paulette) Oldham, Viroqua, Wayne "Bill" Oldham and Ronald "Dusty" (Lois) Oldham, both of Neillsville, Frank (Charlotte) Oldham, Granton, Kenneth Oldham, Neillsville, and Donald Oldham, Granton; four sisters, Betty (Edgar) Ott, Ripon, June (Jack) Kluckhohn and Bonnie "Jean" (Bill) Mitte, both of Neillsville, and Donna (Jeff) Siltala, Marshfield.
