IN MEMORY

At rest from all his labors, From all earth’s woes set free; In death’s cold arms he’s sleeping, Oh, Father! Can this be?

That voice we’ve heard so often In tender accents sweet, We’ll hear no more tis silent Our father’s fall asleep.

So more his faltering footsteps, We’ll welcome at our door; The easy chair is vacant, Our father is no more.

Farwell! Oh, must we sever, Consign the to the tomb? We hope to meet you, father. Where Eden flowers bloom.
