Ystad, Milton L. #2 (31 JAN 1930 - 18 APR 2007)

Milton L. Ystad, 77, Loyal, died at the Marshfield Care Center on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 . Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood, from 10 a.m. until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Terri Blomberg will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238. Interment will be held in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date.

Milton LaVern Ystad was born on Jan. 31, 1930, on the home farm, in the town of Beaver, to Olaf and Elsie (nee Rossow) Ystad. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1948. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1955. He married Bonnie Roix on June 4, 1957, in Clinton, Ind. He then took over the family farm until retiring in 1996. During this time, he also worked at Rollohome, Marshfield, and in later years at Figi’s. In 1970, they joined their neighborhood friends in square dancing with the Loyal Circle 8’s Club. He enjoyed it so much, that he became a square-dance caller. He was the caller for most of the area towns that had clubs, and also called at many state and national conventions. He had such a passion for it, that right up to his final days, he was still trying to get Bonnie to circle right, allemande left and do-si-do.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, Loyal; four children, Dawn (Don) Susa, Spencer, Randy (Carol) Ystad, Greenwood, Russ (Mary) Ystad, Loyal, and Janis (Jerry) Weigel, Jim Falls; 11 grandchildren, Spencer, Mitchell, Brent, Tyler, Jared, Sayre, Raquel, Matthew, Stacy, Stefanie, and Adam. He will be sadly missed.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
