Nelson, Samuel (1810? - 13 Sept. 1882)

Nelson - In Neillsville, Wis., Wednesday evening, Sept. 13, 1882, of consumption, Samuel Nelson, aged 72 years.

Deceased was of foreign birth but emigrated to America while a young man and resided in Washington County, N. Y., forty years, where he raised five children, all of whom are now living; three sons of Marinette, Wis., one son in New York, and Susan, the only daughter, who cared for him during the latter part of his life. Mr. Nelson lost his wife about five years ago, and shortly after her death came, with his daughter, to Neenah, Wis., where they resided until about a year ago when they came to Neillsville, Wis. Since their residence here Mr. Nelson’s health has been gradually failing until last Wednesday, when he answered to the call of the Master whom he had served during life. He became a member of the Baptist church early in life and lived faithful to its teachings until his death. By his quiet, unassuming demeanor he commanded the respect of the acquaintances he made during his short residence here, and during his illness, Mr. Carhart and all connected with the O’Neill House, where he died, showed their respect by their unvarying kindness of him. The funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Rev. Borges.
