William J. Bivans passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.F. Halterman, April 19, 1934, at 2:00 a.m. The cause of his death was paralysis, after a five weeks’ illness.

He was born at Swan, Marion Co., Iowa, on May 29, 1875. He was married to Nora Hunnell, at Runnells, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1897. They resided at Percy, Iowa for several years, and in 1913 came to this country, and settled on a farm near the Walter Bratz cheese factory. For the past eight years they have made their home with their daughter, Mrs. E.F. Halterman, at Stanley. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bivans, all of whom, with their mother, survive. They are Floy (Mrs. E.F. Halterman), Gayle, of Stanley, and Loran of Thorp. Other survivors are a brother, John of Des Moines, Iowa, and four grandchildren, Donald and Mylon Halterman, Phyllis Mae and Laurel Lucille Bivans.

The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. Halterman at 1:30, and at the M.E. Church, Stanley, at 2:00 o’clock. Rev. Irish of Thorp, assisted by Rev. Fahlgren of Stanley, officiated. The pallbearers were Oscar Ramberg, Gilbert Vanderhyden, Mile Larson, Walter Bratz, Gust Foster, and Ed Hickox. He was buried at the Southside Cemetery at Stanley.
