Altenberger, Clara (Schulte) (24 Aug 1864 - 23 Nov 1938)

Mrs. Clara Altenberger

Mrs. Clara Altenberger, 74, mother of Miss Eleanor Altenberger of Stevens Point, died last Wednesday night at her home in the Town of Colby, Clark County. She had been ill for the past two years. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Colby. Burial followed in the Colby cemetery.

Mrs. Altenberger, whose maiden name was Clara Schulte, was born August 24, 1864, in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County. She moved with her parents to Colby 60 years ago. Her marriage to Joseph Altenberger took place on November 23, 1883, in Colby. Mr. Altenberger died 18 years ago.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. John Tauschek of Luxemburg, Mrs. Henry Meiers of Appleton, Mrs. Martha Rahn and Mrs. Edgar Laux of Colby, Miss Pauline Altenberger at home and the daughter in Stevens Point; a brother Robert Schulte of Colby; three sisters, Mrs. William Domer of Unity and Mrs. Rose Klingbeil and Mrs. Pauline Engel of Chicago; seven step-sisters and step-brothers, Charles Schulte of Colby, Arthur Schulte of Marathon, Emil Schulte of Dubuque, Iowa, Mrs. Reinhold Lipprandt of the Town of Green Grove, Clark County, Mrs. August Buchholz of Holcombe and Mrs. William Awe and Mrs. Henry Zumach of Atwood, Clark County and 11 grandchildren.
