RATTLER FORCES LOYAL MAN INTO HURRIED RETREAT

Neillsville, Wis.--While Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Capelle of the Town of Loyal were berrying recently about five miles northwest of Greenwood, a rattlesnake came within a foot of spoiling their day for them.

Mr. Capelle says that the poisonous reptile was no more than 12 inches from his face when it started issuing buzzer signals. Capelle didn't get all of the message, as he wasn't familiar with the code the snake was using.

However, he did get the "back up" part and he did just that.

The above photo shows a timber rattlesnake which is common to Wisconsin
