Velasquez, Jorge Luis (19 Feb 1929 - 19 Apr 2007)

Jorge Luis Velasquez, 78, former resident of Abbotsford, was embraced in heaven by his parents and granddaughter, Aspen, on April 19, 2007.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, from 11 a.m. to Noon with funeral services following the visitation. Interment of the ashes will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Colby.

Jorge was born February 19th, 1929, in Medellin, Colombia, to Luis Adriano Velasquez and Maria de Jesus-Mesa.

He settled in New York City in 1960 and was a residential building manager until his retirement in 1998. Jorge then moved to Abbotsford to be closer to his daughters.

On May 25, 2002, he married Amanda Ramirez and they moved to Miami, Florida, where he resided until the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathleen (Kevin) Schnabel, Abbotsford, Michelle (Gary) Klopp, Evansville and Helena (Ken) Lynn, Curtiss; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Ericka, Megan, Teresa, Adrian and Annalyse.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
