Betty Blunck was born Dec. 1, 1930, in the family home in Withee to Walter and Christine (Jensen) Blunck. She attended Withee schools, spending her elementary years at the Spring Valley one-room schoolhouse and graduating from Withee High School in 1948. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Leon F. "Swede" Bruchert and they were united in marriage July 25, 1953.

Betty was proud of her employment with the A.R. Owen family, for whom she worked while attending high school. After graduation she began her employment career as a bookkeeper with Will's Gas Company, a position she continued on a part-time basis for many years after the birth of her children. She served many years as treasurer for the town of Hixon, and valued her position with the staff and patients at Dairyland Animal Clinic. When raising her family, she spent many years in volunteer service as a leader for both Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops, and as a Sunday School teacher. She was instrumental in founding the OW Booster Club and Band Boosters. She volunteered her talents at local elections, Lion's Club events, and numerous activities at St. John's Lutheran Church, including the ham dinner, work at Bethesda, and making quilts. In 1990, she proudly received the Doonan Award from the community in recognition of her contributions.

Betty is survived by her children, Leeann Stein of Hudson, Todd (Jacki) Bruchert of Eau Claire, and Kurt (Roslyn) Bruchert of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Lauren and Aaron Stein, Brandt, Brenna, Nadia, and Aiden Bruchert; two sisters, Leona (Gay) Christophersen of Withee, and Lois (Irv) Timmler of Greenwood; two brothers, Bob (Arvilla) Blunck of Withee and Larry (Connie) Blunck of West Salem; and one sister-in-law, Mae Bruchert of Withee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Swede" on June 11, 1998; and an infant sister, Lorraine Blunck.

Memorials maybe given to St. John's Lutheran Church or Parkinson's Disease Research.
