Fisse, Herman (28 JAN 1858 - 10 SEP 1936)

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J.J. Hofmann at the Peace Evangelical Church Monday afternoon for Herman Fisse, who passed away at his farm home four miles northwest of the village, after a week’s illness. Mr. Fisse had been ailing for the past year but was not seriously ill until last Monday when he suffered a stroke. From then on his condition failed to improve and he died at 9:30 o’clock Thursday evening.

Services were conducted at the farm home at 1:30 and at the church at 2, and interment was made in the Memorial Cemetery with Noah Small, William Rau, Otto Schultz, Albert Lapp, Joseph Ruprich and Frank Pueschner acting as pallbearers. Flower girls were Miss Lorraine Fisse, Hilda and Bernice Wilke and Alice Tauchen.

Herman Fisse was born in Tuchel, Germany, Jan. 28, 1858, and was 78 years, 7 months and 14 days old at time of death. Emigrating to the United States from Germany in 1884 Mr. Fisse lived two years at Newark, Ohio before coming to Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.). On Sept. 7, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Resech at Dorchester, Wis. After living at Mr. Fisse’s farm, two miles north of town until 1894, the couple moved to their present farm home in 1904, where they have lived for the past 32 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fisse, one daughter, Miss Emma Fisse, at home, and four sons, Otto, Gust, Henry and Richard Fisse, all of Dorchester, and two grandchildren.

Mr. Fisse in his long years in this community endeared himself to his many friends and neighbors, who join with us in offering deepest sympathy to his wife and family in their sorrow.
