Ervin Lee Hansen

PORTAGE - Ervin L. Hansen, 82, of Portage, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, A1a.

Irvin was born Dec. 17, 1924, to Elnora Carlsen Hansen and Emil Hansen in Withee, Wis. He was a Withee High School graduate. He received his formal education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his master's degree from the UW-Madison. Ervin was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran from 1943-1945. He was a navigator on B-24's with the 376th Bomb Group, flying out of Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart during his service.

Ervin was a high school band director in Lodi, for two years, in Baraboo for five years and Waupun for 31 years. In addition, he was a professional musician for many years, a member of the Band Directors Association of Wisconsin and a choir director for many local churches during his life. He was, also a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Union Congregational Church in Waupun.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Angeline Hansen, Portage; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Paula Hansen, Montgomery, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Diane Hansen, Waupun; three grandsons, Chad Hansen, Cincinnati, Ohio, Todd Hansen, Montgomery, A1a., and Curtis Hansen, Waupun; one granddaughter, Heather Hansen, Birmingham, Ala., and one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Hansen, Montgomery, Ala.

A memorial service for Ervin Hansen will be held at a later date.

The Pine Rest Funeral Home, Inc. P.O. Box 328, Foley, AL is serving the family.
