O'Leary, Alton R. (14 Jan. 1937 - 25 June 2007)

NEILLSVILLE -- Alton Russell O'Leary, age 70, of Humbird, died Monday, June 25, 2007, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Pine Valley Zion Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1937, at home in the town of Mentor, the son of Russell and Mable (Courchaine) O'Leary. He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Alton worked for the Northern States Power Company for 16 years. He was united in marriage to Edna Kalsow on Dec. 22, 1962, in Nashua, Iowa. They returned to Humbird and owned and operated the Tourist Haven Restaurant until 1997. During that time Alton also worked at the VA Hospital in Tomah until his retirement in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; children, Rhonda O'Leary, Duluth, Minn., John O'Leary, Humbird, Mike (Pam) O'Leary, Pigeon Falls, and Karen (Keith) Vesperman, Eau Claire; three grandchildren; and one sister, Cornelia (Raymond) Kopp, Humbird.
